Our Observations and Concerns Around Musculoskeletal Health & Mobility for Canadians Needing Attention
- Canadians are unclear on the true value of providing world class musculoskeletal care to ensure pain free mobility.
- There lacks a central, coordinating body representing all of musculoskeletal health and orthopaedic care in Canada.
- Point-of-care access is inconsistent across the nation.
- Patients lack sufficient awareness of musculoskeletal care, preventative, pre-determinants, predictors and possible solutions.
- Musculoskeletal health care, including orthopaedics, is not recognized as a core delivery service by many institutions.
- There are growing human resources issues in finding qualified personnel because of the increasing demands of our aging population and the accompanying expectations that they will remain active much later in life.
